Getting Started

How do I get access to CT Education Academy?
Each Connecticut state agency has a designated administrator for CT Education Academy. This is usually the person that oversees your agency's training programs. If you do not know who this person is, please email ccaggiano@ctdlc.org with your name and agency name.

How do I change my Password?
Click on My Menu, then in the box called My Profile, click on View Profile. The next screen will offer a Change Password option. Click on Change Password to change it.

How do I change my email address?
If your state email address changes, please see your agency CEA administrator to get it changed for this system.

How do I enroll in a course?
Click on the Course Catalog button in the top menu. Available courses will be listed on the bottom half of the page. Click on Register button to sign up for the course.

Taking the Course

Once I’m enrolled, how do I start taking the course?
From your CT Education Academy homepage, click on My Courses from the top menu bar.  Courses you are enrolled in will be listed.  Click on the Launch Course icon next to the course you wish to begin.    A new tab will open up and you will now see boxes for Tools, Announcements and My Courses. Under My Courses you will see the name of the course you will be talking.  Click on the name of your course.  A course welcome page will come up, and from there you just need to click on the course name to start the course.

How long do I have to complete the course?
Course lengths will vary by agency requirement but will general be about 30 days.  If you click on My Courses then under Description click on the name of the course, a description will come up, including starting and ending dates and the duration.

How do I see my course grade?
When logged in, click on My Courses.  This will list all of the courses you have taken through the CT Education Academy with your grades.

How do I get my course completion certificate?
If your course utilizes a certificate, it will be available on the My Courses page next to your Grade you will see a Certificate icon.  Click on that icon to print out your certificate.  Not all courses offer a certificate of completion. Other courses require the completion of a task or quiz to earn the certificate. Your certificate will appear only if you have met the minimum requirement for the course.

Do I need to download software to take a course? 
No, the Blackboard course management system is a web based system and utilizes JavaScript which most computers already use.  A new window will pop up when you click Launch Course taking you to your Blackboard main menu page.

Where can I find system requirements?

How do I determine what browser I’m using?
You can run a browser check to find out. Our browser check can be found on the Support page, under the section System Requirements.
